Suzanna's Newsletter!

Good Afternoon! This newsletter is coming to you a little early this week since there is a great activity tonight that we thought you all might like hearing about! Historic Downtown Hillsborough is having a “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” Ladies night out tonight, Thursday April 30th from 6-9pm. Join Mayor Tom Stevens and his wife while downtown businesses greet lady shoppers with flowers to build bouquets while flower supplies last! There will be great shopping specials, wine, hot teas, tasty goodies, truffles, chair massages and live music. Jeannie, who has her fabulous booth here at Suzanna’s, from Uniquities in Hillsborough will be participating! Guys can come too! There will be special locations open with free wings and games!! Something else we are all excited about are STRAWBERRIES! Sam of Sam’s Country Porch Antiques located just in front of Suzanna’s will start having fresh picked strawberries for sale this weekend! His strawberries, and in weeks to come fresh veggies; along with all of his beautiful plants are some of the best parts of summer! Sam will have vegetables available Monday thru Saturday under his canopy. We have beautiful pictures of some of his plants and flowers on the blog! Speaking of fresh vegetables, the North Raleigh Farmer’s Market is having their grand opening this weekend at Falls River. The market will run Saturdays from 8 to 12 and Wednesdays from 4 till 7. If you miss their market, don’t forget Sam’s is open Monday thru Saturday! This Saturday you can see the two story shopping cart at Falls River, courtesy of NC Department of Agriculture’s “Goodness Grows in NC” program. There will be a ribbon cutting at 11:00 am and “Grillzilla” will also be in attendance. For more information visit http://www.northraleighfarmersmarket.com/ . And finally, wait till you see some of the new items at Suzanna’s Antiques! A new red dresser came in with great lines, located in the kitchen area to showcase the fact that you can use furniture where ever you want, not just in traditional spaces! A beautiful new turquoise wardrobe graces Jeannie’s booth along with a cute standing pink lamp! Ray and Gloria have a beautiful globe lamp with hand painted roses on the glass in their booth. And Linda brought in a beautiful vanity with mirror that would look great in any bedroom! Remember last weekend when I told you Tracy was hard at work in her booth. She never disappoints! Tracy has some of the prettiest shabby chic items! And she puts thing together in such fun ways! Come see some of her embellished hand mirrors or shelves made from cigar boxes. There is something for everyone in her booth! She even brought in some great red bouncy chairs for the outdoors, along with a fleur de lies garden arch! Gary and Teresa brought in a whole new set of outdoor items! There is a fun yellow chaise lounge with matching kitty and some cute birdhouses for your yard! Jeff and Julia have marked down some items in their booth! The beautiful precious stone world map featured on the blog a few weeks ago is on special! Come in and see what you can’t live without! Thanks Susie, Jenny and the girls!

For Sale Friday 4-17-09

Mirror, Mirror on the wall,
who's the fairest of them all?

Why, Suzanna's of course! Cinderella says so!

I know I am mixing up my fairy tales here, but mixing it up is what we do best! Decorating with antiques need not be fussy! It can be fun!

You can use aprons as art!

Or paint it all red!

Put a shelf on a table!

Or a mouse near your bed!

A pig as a step stool?

Or with flowers instead? Your only limit is what's in your head!

So make yourself Happy!

'Cause playful's fun too!

And remember what Cinderella said about her shoe!

We can help you add whimsy or serious too,

after all, we have unicorns

and Little Boy Blue!

Below is our weekly newsletter! Enjoy!

Good Morning! Lots to tell you about this week! There is so much going on all over the place! Don’t forget we still have tickets available for the Franklin Country Historic home tour going on this weekend! One of the only places in Raleigh to get tickets is Suzanna’s!! There is also a garden tour in Wake Forest this weekend! The tour is in celebration of Wake Forest’s Centennial and the Wake Forest Garden Club’s 85th birthday! The theme is “Timeless Inspiration” and will focus on North Main Street’s gardens. The tour will be Saturday, April 18th from 9 to 4 and the weather this weekend looks wonderful! In tandem with the tour, Elizabeth Newhouse will be having one of her famous sales at her home on North Main Street! She always outdoes herself and since you are a fan of Suzanna’s, you just might see some things you remember from the shop, decorating her yard and garden! Also in Wake Forest you can enjoy an afternoon of music on the grounds of the college from 1 to 4! Refreshments will be served along with an art sale featuring local artisans. For a complete list of all the gardens and activities please visit http://www.wfgardenclub.org. Since we are already having fun in Wake Forest we thought we would mention a new vintage shop that has opened up! GC5 Vintage and Gifts at 430 South White Street, Wake Forest, NC 27571 is so much fun! They carry new and vintage handbags, jewelry, furniture, glassware...a little bit of everything! They are open Tuesday thru Saturday 10 to 6, Sunday 1 to 6 and they are closed Monday! The neatest thing is they also have a meeting space available for clubs and groups! You have to go check it out and tell them Suzanna’s sent you! Also, this weekend marks the beginning of HERBFEST! Generally recognized as the largest herb and perennial festival East of the Mississippi! This year Herbfest starts on April 17th and goes through April 26th! This is a not to be missed tradition in Wake Forest. People plan their vacations around this festival and all of the activities it provides! Click here for more information! http://www.herbfest.net/index.php Then head to Suzanna’s for unusual containers to plant all your wonderful herbs and flowers! How about a shoe full of rosemary or a colander full of lemongrass? How about an enamel pot full of salad herbs for your windowsill? You provide the plant and Suzanna’s can find you a container. There is fun and whimsy all over the shop this weekend! See the blog for what I mean! Another fun site we have found is Yelp.com and Suzanna’s already has two reviews! Suzanna’s Antiques Tip of the Day! To remove those stubborn, cloudy stains at the bottom of glassware fill with water and drop in alka seltzer or denture tablets! Let bubble then rinse clean! See you at the shop! Susie and Jenny
